"Shoot them back" isn't a strategy; it's a death sentence
ICE murdered a man in the streets of Minneapolis today. And once again, it's all on film, and it's absolutely brutal and devastating.
I feel your anger. I am ENRAGED right now, too. But this is exactly the moment when we need to step back, breathe, and strategize.
I am seeing a LOT of "shoot back" talk online right now, and it's angry, revenge-y, lizard-brain, "fight or flight" talking. But strategically speaking, trying to fight an urban war on their terms, without a plan or any strategy or cohesion, with a federal military that FAR outguns any of us is tactically stupid.
And it puts a LOT of innocent people in a lot of danger, which is what we are ACTIVELY trying to stop.
Since we keep talking a lot about Nazis, let's parse this, shall we? IT TOOK A MASSIVE ALLIANCE OF COUNTRIES TO STOP HITLER. You think you're gonna stop the US government with all their toys AND their massive surveillance systems with your Facebook posts and an AR-15 when the nutbag in charge is just ITCHING to nuke someone? Good fucking luck. We'll all be dead tho, so I guess ICE won't be a problem anymore.
Seriously. Read up about historical resistance movements. Hell, even read up on military strategy. Knowing your strategies and knowing what has worked before and how to mold it to the current situation is a million times more valuable than popping off on social media about 2A and starting gunfights in cities with a bunch of Nazi fucks.
And let's be real...we're not dealing with geniuses in this regime. All they HAVE is brutality. Being smarter than them really isn't that hard. So a little strategy and organization is exactly the way to outsmart them and their lies.
But we're not gonna pull it off lone wolf style, and we CERTAINLY aren't going to stop them by just randomly shooting at them, ffs. We can't outgun them, so we have to outthink them. And to do that, we can't just freak out babbling about "2A" every time they do something awful, because they're gonna do a LOT more of it.
In other words, take a breath. Sit with this pain and anger. I know it hurts and I know the rage is BIG. I feel it with you. Scream if you need to (you can use a pillow, I won't tell anyone). Then take that pain and anger, and find other people who are feeling it and find ways to bring each other together, take care of each other, and strategize even more resistance.
Because in the end, if we want something better than this, we have to BE better than this. Or at least be smarter than the morons whose only weapon is brutality and death.
